Venison - Stew

Lesson plan (40:12) - Many survival stories recount people who have perished because they did not know how to preserve their meat supply. Using the best cuts for smoking from the venison in episode 1, we show you how to preserve your meat in two ways. Ed shows you ‘survival style preservation’ that has helped him in many survival situations, and Steven creates a culinary feast by making 5-day, wood-smoked biltong.

Lesson plan (32:34) - People have been cooking using hot rocks and underground ovens for thousands of years. Using this ancient cooking skill, we show you how this technique is easily achievable today, and will make the most delicious and exciting outdoor feast! From selecting the right rocks and firewood, to constructing this underground oven, the Hangi is the ultimate in group cooking.

Lesson plan (51:17) - This episode is packed with useful techniques and cooking flair. How to prepare a pigeon and roast it in an old ammo box as well as making a delicious pigeon pie cooked entirely on the campfire.
