Lesson plan (35:34) - There are many ways to ignite a fire. Here we introduce you to the families of techniques; using chemicals, the sun, sparks, compression and finally fire-by-friction (rubbing sticks together!). Whether you need to light a fire in an emergency with your vehicle, or learn the ancient techniques of using rocks to create sparks, we’ve got it covered.

Lesson plan (1:24:39) - Learning how to rub sticks together to make a fire is the ultimate skill to make you self-reliant and confident to travel anywhere in the wilderness. We’ve chosen three of the best techniques and given you the most detailed fire by friction lessons available anywhere. Become a master at the Bow-drill, Hand-drill and Bamboo fire saw!

Lesson plan (36:18) - A fire is not simply a fire. There are many different types; fires for cooking on, signalling and survival. You need a different fire for jungle environments than you do in the north where the temperature can drop to below -40 degrees C. We select the most useful fire lays and show you how to build the right fire for the right situation.
